FAQ

Which code formats are supported?

It supports QR codes (standard QR and rMQR). On supported browsers, it can also detect formats like Aztec, Data Matrix, and PDF417 via BarcodeDetector.

Why do some images fail to scan?

Low resolution, glare, distortion, tight margins, and print noise can reduce detection reliability. Re-capture so the code appears larger, and try cropping. This tool also retries with inversion and binarization.

How many PDF pages are scanned?

Currently, only the first page is rendered and scanned.

Is it worth trying if my default camera can’t scan it?

Yes. Different apps/devices support different decoding methods. Switching between image scan, PDF scan, and camera scan can help.

Is camera scanning safe?

Camera access follows browser permissions and can be revoked anytime.

Is scanned content uploaded?

Scanning is designed to run locally in your browser.

Is it safe to open a scanned URL?

Check the domain first and be cautious with short links or suspicious strings. If unsure, copy the URL and verify it separately before opening.

Does it work offline?

Decoding runs in your browser once the page is loaded, but the first load requires a network connection. For offline use, open the page in advance.
